Area Law Enforcement
Approximately 50 cars have been covered with what appears to be blood from a person in the German municipality of Hanau near Frankfurt, according to authorities.
Cars, exterior walls and postboxes were vandalized, in some cases with prohibited symbols, they announced in a official communication.
Police say they were alerted late on Wednesday night, when a individual noticed that a vehicle in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been covered with a reddish fluid.
The liquid had been drawn in the form of a banned symbol, they reported.
Law enforcement then found numerous other smeared cars and residential walls in the surrounding area.
Nazi symbols are illegal in Germany under laws prohibiting the public exhibition of Nazi symbols.
Law enforcement say early analysis indicate the liquid was most likely human blood.
"At present there remains no lead as to its origin; investigators are currently not aware of any harm in relation with the event," they commented.
Municipal representatives said they were working "to unravel the case" and have requested to the public for information.
An important political figure stated the attack made him without words and required to be addressed promptly.
"This incident strikes at the center of Hanau and revives the wounds of the right-wing violent incident half a decade ago," he wrote on online, recalling the death of nine individuals by a shooter focusing on residents of immigrant origin in 2020.
